Game Mechanics

Here is a layout of what I imagine my Game would look like:

The idea in my mind is an on-rails 2D shooter similar in gameplay to an online flash game called 'Black Knight'. In Black Knight, the player must demolish a town and it's contents (including the peasants) in order to collect gold for the King. The game is controlled by only the mouse button, which is pressed to make a light hit, or held to charge up the 'Get Medieval' meter and unleash a super-powerful hit for extra gold. Swings must be used with caution, as a miss results in a recovery delay, where peasants and other gold-filled entities can pass you by unscathed.

In my game, Frank would move forward automatically with the player just guiding the action. He would have a choice to use either his fists or a weapon from his inventory, such as the Pistol or Uzi (Weapons would be bought/unlocked throughout the game and chosen before the level is begun). Using the multi-touch capabilities of the iPhone, players would tap the enemy they'd want to attack with one tap throwing one punch or shooting one bullet, or a quick double tap throwing a 1-2 punch or (depending on the current selected weapon) a using a weapon perk. When the pistol is equipped, for example, it would have the ability to perform a one-hit K.O if the enemy is close enough, by hitting them on the head and shooting a bullet through the bottom of their chin.

Here is a brief explanatory of the in-game HUD:

replayablility.

The more you kill, the more points you rake in. Bonuses are also awarded for little damage taken and survival time.

Frank's Heart of Steel comes from his sheer
power, not a disorder of any sort.

Health
Frank's Heart of Steel can only take so many hits, and when the tough outer shell is depleted, he's only got one chance left. Frank can take 4 hits before he gets to his last chance, with the 5th hit being the killing shot.

Frank's right-hand man.

Fist
Frank's best friend is always there when he needs him, so when the fist is selected Frank will use is upper-body strength to obliterate anything that might stupidly come too close to him. Small-ranged, yet packs a punch (literally).

When the fist is selected, tap the enemy or direction you want to punch in. With a double-tap, Frank will perform an instant knock-out move. Beware, however, this move will leave you vulnerable and open for attack. A risky move but, when pulled off right, a very rewarding one.

Use weapons in times of need!
Weapon
As strong as Frank's arms are, they're a little stumpy. So when thing's get a little heated in the distance, Frank can pull out his trusty Desert Eagle or any other weapons he might happen to find lying around.

When a weapon is selected, the same controls as the fist apply. Just tap in the direction you want to fire the weapon or, for certain weapons, hold the button down to unleash a spray of bullets. Weapons only carry a certain amount of ammo, so use it wisely!

With this simple control scheme, I hope players would not find the game difficult to play in pressurising situations.
